You've come to a resource where you can learn what you need to know to apply for free tutoring for college students. The reason that I love to share this with people is because there are so many learning institutions out there who are not always open to providing their services free of charge. That's because they don't want their online learning students to gain access to their facilities for free and then say, 'Hey, I can't afford to pay for it.' Now, that's not to say that all online tutoring services for college students out there are really taking advantage of the little things that are there. However, you have to remember that there are many learning institutions that are also in the business of earning money. And when you are talking about paid tutoring, you're talking about taking advantage of a profit motive, but in the right way. Paid tutoring should never be taken lightly and you can have your time with those tutors who are providing you with personalized, one on one tutoring. You're also going to find out that there are many legitimate paid tutoring services out there. All in all, this is a great way to be able to get help with an area that you know nothing about. While the fact that it's free may make you feel a little bit uneasy, it's still a sign of honesty from the tutor, since they're saying that they don't really need to make a dime off of you because you are paying them. These tutoring services for college students can be extremely helpful to anyone, no matter what their financial situation.

Why its Important to Consider A Fifth Grade Tutoring Service
Why it's Important to Consider A Fifth Grade Tutoring ServiceIf you are looking for a way to improve your reading and writing skills, you may consider a Fifth Grade Tutoring Program. Even if you are in the fifth grade, your teacher may not be the only person that can help you. Reading and writing skills can be learned in the home, with family members, or in private tutoring. Make sure you consider a service before making a decision about tutoring.Reading and writing lessons are important for anyone's education, and those in the fifth grade are especially encouraged to learn these skills. A Fifth Grade Tutoring Service is the best way to meet all your child's needs. It can help to maximize any available social activities, or even combine tutoring with home study time. Some people want to do their reading and writing lessons at home, while others want to learn them in class, but anyone who wants to learn how to improve their reading and writing skills in this age should consider seeking out a tutoring service. Not only can a fifth grade service offer up-to-date reading and writing skills, they can also teach topics that are not covered in regular classes.Students in the fifth grade are often able to focus their attention on their writing ability, but not their reading ability. This can hinder their progress and make it difficult to go on to other subjects. These services can help teach young readers and writers on the basics of reading and writing, as well as practice short stories and dialogue that are used in public speaking.Fourth graders are often interested in making friends and getting along with others, but they are still learning how to think critically. They should also take the time to work on group projects, since this helps them to learn more than just reading and writing skills. Group tutoring can help make it easier for students to learn to read other people's feelings and thoughts, which can be very helpful when it comes to interacting with others. Since so many kids are learning to care for their bodies, exercise and nutrition is another way that they can learn to make changes in their student's life. By introducing them to health in five grades, a good third grade tutoring service can teach them what to do when they are getting a tummy ache, or how to manage their diet. They can learn about how to avoid extra pounds and enjoy new healthy habits.Fifth grade can be a challenging period for young students, but with proper tutoring, students in the fifth grade can have some great memories to look back on. Once they are done with their grades, they can begin planning their college applications, and other adult-related careers.

Can Music Help Me Study
Can Music Help Me Study Studying can seem quite tedious or draining depending on your mood, the subject youre reviewing, the time of year, and your overall schedule. Considering the many factors that can affect the quality of your studying, you might be asking yourself this question: Can musichelp me study? Here are four ways that (some) music can improve your review sessions: 1. It increases connectivity between different brain regions We have all experienced the feeling of listening to music we enjoy, whether its a favorite band or a song that brings back specific memories. Recent research has found that listening to favorite genres or songs correlates with greater connectivity between brain regions called the default mode network (DMN). The DMN is the part of the brain that deals with switching between inner and outer thought. So, if you listen to music that you like while studying, you might find that you can better focus your thoughts. Try playing songs you know very well as they should be less distracting during your review session. This will likely improve your mood at the same time! These three study tips may also help youstudy for your college exams. 2. It lessens anxiety When asking yourself, Can music help me study? consider this listening to music can also help with anxiety. Choose music that you like, as mentioned above, but keep in mind that slower, smoother music is generally more soothing. Avoid heavy beats and dramatic ups and downs. Consider listening to classical music, especially solo pieces, duets, or those with only a few instruments (versus large orchestral pieces). These selections are more likely to provide a calming atmosphere for your study sessions. You might use this music as a backdrop, or during breaks between stressful, more intense periods of studying. Music is also a great extracurricular activity. 3. It creates an escape from surrounding noise Depending on where you study, you might need an escape from ambient noise. If you like studyingat the library, wonderful; if you study at home, in a dorm, or at a coffee shop with people moving and conversing in the background, try bringing headphones with you. Youll be able to create a different studying environment for yourself simply by wearing these headphones. You might even try noise-cancelling headphones, which work to cancel out ambient noise. Noise-isolating headphones, on the other hand, are similar to earplugs, where they place a barrier between you and the sounds. There are different price ranges and qualities of headphones, so read recommendations and reviews before you invest in them. These study tips can help you create a good study environment. 4. It provides sustenance for long or monotonous study sessions If you need to reviewfor an extended period of time, or if the task that youre engaged in is monotonous, consider using music as a way to break up your study session into more manageable parts. Listening to music can even help you keep track of how long youve been studying. These5 random itemscan help you studyas well. So, if you are asking yourself, Can music help me study? the answer is yes! There are many ways to incorporate it into your review sessions: try different kinds of music that can help with your stamina while studying, or try music streaming services, pre-made playlists, or free online radio. Dont forget that calming music can also promote a good nights sleep, which is just as important as you prepare for an important exam. Do you love music? So do we! What is it Like to Attend University of Wisconsin-River Falls
What is it Like to Attend University of Wisconsin-River Falls The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teachtheyre sharing their college experiences as well. Carolyn received her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She is currently a tutor in Minneapolis specializing in English tutoring, essay editing tutoring, reading tutoring, and several other subjects. See what she had to say about her experience at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Carolyn: The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is a beautiful green campus with lots of trees and rolling land in a typical, rural American town. The Kinnickinnic River runs through campus, and it takes only 20 minutes at most to walk from one end of campus to the other. Most students walk or bike. There is also a reasonably priced taxi service in town to get students to places further away from campus. The campus is considered to be a very safe place. I never felt unsafe walking there, even at night. It is well lit with campus police on patrol 24 hours a day. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants at University of Wisconsin-River Falls? Carolyn: I found the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants to be very approachable and helpful. The class sizes are reasonably small, and individual attention is the norm. There is also help available from tutors if needed. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Carolyn: The dorms are all close to class buildings, and students can easily walk to classes. The walkways are cleared right away after a snowfall, so walking is always an option. The food at the university is tasty, and many healthy options are included on the menu. There are lots of other dining choices within minutes of campus, including pizza places, Chinese restaurants, Mexican restaurants, and several fast food choices. There is a theater just blocks away that has been family-run and owned for years and years, and it still offers movie tickets for $3.00 and buttered popcorn for $1.00. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Carolyn: The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is noted for its agriculture major. It also has a very good education department, which is the course of study that I chose. I majored in elementary education. There is a campus day care on site which has a very good reputation for early childhood education. The music department is very good, as well, and that was my minor area of study. The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is also noted for its physics and chemistry majors. One famous astronaut, Dan Brandenstein, graduated from the school. He piloted one space shuttle mission and commanded two other missions. Boyd Huppert, reporter for KARE 11 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, also graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Carolyn: The campus is a very friendly one. It is a fairly small university in a small town, and the River Falls population is roughly 15,000 people. It is easy to get to know other students, especially within ones major area of study. How helpful is the Career Center and other student support services at University of Wisconsin-River Falls? Carolyn: The student support services are very helpful, and once again, because it is a small university in a small town, individual help is available. How are the various study areas such as libraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Carolyn: The university library is a very good library, and it has everything needed for your studying. There is also a beautiful library downtown in River Falls which is only a few blocks from campus. It is a multi-purpose library, and it has all the latest technical equipment needed for todays operations. Describe the surrounding town. Carolyn: The city of River Falls is a small community. Students can feel safe walking the streets even at night. There are several shops and stores within the city, as well as restaurants and fast food places. River Falls is only about 15 miles from Woodbury, Minnesota and 30 miles from St. Paul, Minnesota. There is every shopping and dining option imaginable there. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Carolyn: The student body is a little over 6,000 students, and the class sizes are ideal. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one you regret the most. Carolyn: I particularly remember Dr. Elliot Wold, who was my voice teacher and choir teacher at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He has since retired, but he was a very dedicated and talented man who loved music. I would say that he impacted my life because he had such a strong work ethic and love of music and teaching. How to Survive Your First Italian Conversation
How to Survive Your First Italian Conversation Suzy S. Are you nervous about speaking Italian for the first time? Below, Italian teacher Nadia B. shares some tips on how to survive your first Italian conversation Youve memorized a long list of Italian vocabulary words, and youve practiced repeating them out loud with your Italian teacher. But, are you confident enough in your skills to have an Italian conversation with someone other than your Italian instructor? The following tips and tricks will teach you how to navigate through your first Italian conversation. These tidbits will help you communicate with and comprehend your conversation partner, as well as avoid some of the most common challenges facing Italian language learners in conversation. Lets get started! 1. Ask Your Partner to Speak Slowly If your Italian conversation partner is a native Italian, you might find that he or she will become animated and start to speak rapidly. Dont worry, this is very common among native Italian speakers. If youre having trouble understanding your partner, you can try the following phrase: Parla/parli più lentamente, per favore, which means Please speak more slowly. In this phrase, parla is informal and parli is formal. 2. Take Note of Hand Gestures Another thing that happens as Italian speakers become more animated is their use of hand gestures. Take note of these hand gestures, as they can help you gain comprehension. Check out this link to see the many hand gestures that Italians often use. Familiarize yourself with some of the gestures, and see if you can catch them in use in actual conversation. 3. Phrases to Use When You Dont Understand If asking your partner to speak slowly doesnt work, here are some phrases you can use if theres something you dont understand: Potresti/Potrebbe ripetere la parola/la frase, per favore? (Could you please repeat the word/the last few words?) In this phrase, potresti is informal and potrebble is formal. Cosa vuol dire ____? (What does ___ mean?) If youre really not able to understand what your conversation partner has said, you can resort to: Non capisco. (I dont understand.) Non ho capito. (I didnt understand [a specific thing].) 4. Substitute Words You Dont Know If youre following what your partner is saying, but youre having trouble expressing a particular idea or thought, try to work around it. If you cant think of a particular word, or dont know the word, you can try to describe it using words you do know. For example, if you didnt know the word for bookstore in Italian (la libreria), you could say, E dove si compra un libro. (Its where you buy books.) If youre really stuck, and the person youre conversing with speaks some English, try the following phrase: Come se dice ____ in italiano? (How do you say ____ in Italian?) 5. Keep it Simple Lastly, remember to keep it simple. Using simple sentence structures and basic vocabulary words can go a long way. Remember these common building blocks of sentences: The verbs to be: essere and stare Subject pronouns: io (I), lui (he), noi (us), etc. Common verbs: mangiare (to eat), parlare (to speak), andare (to go) Helpful prepositions: di (of), da (from), accanto (beside), davanti (in front), indietro (behind), giù (below) Useful adjectives: interessante (interesting), bello (beautiful), amabile (friendly), difficile (hard), facile (easy) 6. Ask Your Partner Questions In addition to using the above structures to create varied conversation, dont forget that another way to increase the richness and depth of your conversation is to ask the person youre conversing with questions about themselves, or ask for more information about what he or she has said. Use the following question words to gain more information: perché (why) come (how) quando (when) dove (where) che cosa (what) chi (who) Use these tips and consult your Italian teacher to help prepare for your first Italian conversation. Most of all, enjoy yourself! Its sure to be full of fun and learning, and its only the beginning of many adventures in Italian to come! Post Author: Nadia B. Nadia B. teaches Italian in New York, NY. Clearly laid out are the new topic areas for each tier as well as any new topics that are required learning for both tiers. Firstly, you may be wondering, why are there two tiers in the new maths GCSE? Each student must either take the higher or the foundation tier. They differ in content, and grading. For the higher tier paper your grade will be in the range 4 to 9. If you are looking for information on the sample papers and grade boundaries please see our blog âNew Maths 9-1 GCSEâ. SO, new topics have been added to the Maths 9-1 GCSE syllabus, but what are they? The Foundation Tier Candidates for the new Maths 9-1 GCSE who are sitting the foundation tier are now required to learn content that was previously only a requirement for higher tier students. New content requirements for foundation students: Calculate exactly with multiples of p Use standard form Round to any number of significant figures (currently 1 s.f. only) Expand double brackets Factorise quadratics including the difference of two squares Solve quadratic equations by factorising Know the difference between an equation and identity Use y = mx + c to identify parallel lines Sketch quadratic, cubic and reciprocal functions Problem involving compound interest Derive simultaneous equations from real-life situations Solve linear simultaneous equations algebraically and graphically Perform calculations with density, mass and volume Solve problems involving percentage change and reverse percentages Use direct and inverse proportion graphically and algebraically Find corresponding lengths in similar shapes Use the congruence criteria for triangles (SSS, SAS, ASA, RHS) Enlarge shapes with fractional scale factors Find the areas and perimeters of compound shapes involving circles, and calculate arc lengths and areas of sectors. Use the sin, cos and tan trigonometric ratios for right-angled triangles Use tree diagrams to solve probability questions Infer properties of a population from a sample, while knowing the limitations of sampling. In addition, foundation students are required to learn extra formulae that will not be on the formulae sheet. These include The Higher Tier Some syllabus material that previously was taught at A level will now be a requirement of higher tier students. New content for higher tier Recognise and use the equation of a circle centred at the origin Find the equation of a tangent to a circle at a given point. Find approximate solutions to equations using iteration Solve quadratic inequalities Find the nth term of a quadratic sequence Recognise and use geometric sequences where the common ratio may be a surd Apply the concepts of instantaneous and average rates of change by looking at the gradients of tangents and chords to a curve Prove the circle theorems Use the probability âANDâ and âORâ rules Change recurring decimals into their corresponding fractions and vice versa Find inverse and composite functions Locate turning points of quadratic functions by completing the square Sketch y = tan x (in addition to sin and cos) Interpret areas under graphs and gradients of graphs in real-life contexts For the higher tier, additional formulae required to memorise include: It is also worth knowing there is significant new content that will appear in both the Foundation and Higher tier papers. Find the equation of a line through two points or through one point with given gradient Recognise and use sequences of triangular, square and cube numbers, Fibonacci type sequences, quadratic sequences and geometric sequences Calculate compound measures including pressure in numerical and algebraic contexts Express a multiplicative relationship between two quantities as a ratio or a fraction. Write a ratio as a linear function Set up, solve and interpret growth and decay problems Use inequality notation to specify simple error intervals due to truncation or rounding Understand the? s symbol Use the standard convention for labelling sides and angles of polygons. Derive the sum of angles in a triangle Work with percentages greater than 100% Know the exact values of sin and cos for ? = 0 °, 30 °, 45 °, 60 ° and 90 °; know the exact value of tan for ? = 0 °, 30 °, 45 ° and 60 °. Consider outliers when calculating the range of distribution. Know that correlation does not imply causation. Use Venn diagrams. Its is very important that your child understands what knowledge and skills are required for the tier they are taking. Students studying higher tier, for example, need to know what extra knowledge is required for topics that also appear on the foundation tier.
